Matterhorn as World’s Famous Mountain and Zermatt Village

The town of Zermatt, on the left side is the museum but it was closed that time when we were there.

Riding a cable car going on top of the mountain.

Top of the mountain, was so cold.
Was taken by the restaurant, behind me which is the "Matterhorn," unique shape right?
My husband and I.:)

My husband and I went this town “Zermatt” last year 2007 on month of November and we did really planned going that town. Before we arrived there we did ride the train from Locarno to Domodossola, Italy and I thought when I get in the train the immigration officer is there and will not allow me to go to Italy as I do not have a Schengen Visa or Italian Visa as it was already a boarder of Italy and Switzerland. While we were in the train I took some great view of the Alps. We arrived at Domodossola and rode a train going to Brig and there was a Swiss officer did check my passport and my greencard. We arrived in Brig and from there to Zermatt and we did stopped some train stations which I forgot the name. My husband and I arrived in Zermatt about 3:30-4:00pm, it was freaking cold and the snow was so thick and I did wear about 2 long sleeves and 1 pull over plus jacket, hat, gloves and 2 socks.

This Zermatt is became an internationally famous health resort as a lot of people do ski in here, hiking and known for its great skiing and we did met one American guy there that we talked to and he said doing ski there is different. This Zermatt until the mid-19th century, it was predominantly an agricultural community its name, as well as that of the Matterhorn itself, derive from the alpine meadows, or matten, in the valley. In the German language, the town is "Zur Matte", or "in the meadow." A complex of cable cars and chair lifts carry skiers in the winter and hikers in the summer; the highest of them leads to the Klein Matterhorn at 3,883m, a small outcropping on the ridge between Breithorn and Matterhorn that offers spectacular views in all directions. My husband did stay in Zermatt for just 3 days, we did really enjoy every moment staying there and we did not feel bored at all. Everyday we go to in the restaurant as Swiss people when it comes in cooking they are really serious about it as I can say as their food are excellent and when they serve the food to you it is very hot! I always full as you know when it comes in traveling we think of eating delicious food in the restaurant and I never had such a bad day or experience while staying in this Zermatt Village. During night time, we walked from the hotel ‘til nearby the train station which about 5 minutes from our hotel that we stayed in and even though it was cold we still keep walking around but I am glad I did handle the cold and well… I wore enough clothes. On 2nd day in Zermatt we decided to go to the top of the mountain where people do ski and there is a restaurant there. We did ride the cable car 4 times before we reach the highest point. When we were on the highest mountain in Zermatt I was feel sick as we know when the altitude change can make you sick especially when you are not used to it. I even felt cannot breathe well and eventually I recovered or I felt better. When my husband and I were on top I can see the spectacular view of the Alps and the glacier and I have not seen glacier before and that was great.

It was really cold in there and it was a great experienced for us and how I wish I did ski and I even saw some beginners and perhaps I will try one day. We just did watch the people doing ski and when we are riding a cable car it was a lot of people inside and which I felt dizzy. They do have restaurant there which serves buffet and I forgot how much we paid for two of us. It was an amazing experienced we had and I hope one day we will go back this Zermatt Village again. Awesome view, awesome village and awesome food and for short, the best!
